Slowly working my way through the commissions now - here's the latest, Morpheus (Sandman).

Not a character that I know much about but it was open for my interpretation so I gave it my best.

Pigma Micron pens (line work and some fill), Kuretake brush pen (cape), ink wash and Pentel Colour Brush (grey) for the BG and finished off with Copic warm greys and white gouache.

Usagi Yojimbo

I've been slowly working on a couple of pieces over the last 12 months or so, finally I finished one of them - this here Usagi Yojimbo.

I received a Japanese nib holder and assortment of nibs back in Christmas 2014 and was inspired to create something with a Japanese vibe. I intended to ink the entire thing with the dip pen......... but I've actually yet to use it. I actually inked this with the usual tools - Kuretake No. 8 brush pen, Micron /Copic 0.1, 0.35 and 0.5 pitt pens and Kuretake PK3-10S disposable brush pen.

I always intended to colour this digitally too but I'd put so much of myself into the ink that I felt it deserved better than my MS Paint skills - so I handed it over to Chris "Burbs" Jenkins of Reckless Hero who is like a wizard but better. I couldn't be happy with it. the final image really reaffirms my decision to let someone who knows their stuff tackle the colours.

The original art was then auctioned off to support the Kitega Community Centre in Uganda, where a friend is currently volunteering. It raised a not too shabby £77 (+ my gift aid) which will now make a difference to someone very deserving.

Using my art to help charity is something I do quite often and I am finding so much satisfaction in doing so, which far outweighs the pleasure I receive from pocketing the proceeds of my art myself.
